Besides the puzzles and problem-solving, I love seeing something that I first imagined in my mind come to fruition on the job site.

Associate Principal, Architect

With over 19 years of practice at KPB, Ryann Swalling has extensive experience and a diverse background in architecture, including office spaces, parking garages, multi-unit housing, healthcare facilities, and a wide variety of federal projects. She excels in applying complex regulatory requirements, which is vital to the success of her federal and healthcare projects.

Ryann begins each design by establishing the project goals with the client and identifying the available resources and any known limitations. As the project progresses, she engages in more specific discussions to refine the design and construction documents, always listening attentively to the client’s priorities, culture, passions, needs, and concerns. This consistent communication throughout the design and construction processes helps the project meet, and even exceed, the originally set goals.

As a fourth-generation Alaskan, Ryann continues her family’s deep connection to the state. She is actively involved in the community as the immediate past Board Chair of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce (ACoC) and is serving her tenth year on their board, as a Board Member of the Alaska Chamber of Commerce, and is a Founder of the ACoC Young Professionals Group. She enjoys traveling, attending live music and theater, fly fishing, and exploring Alaska with family and friends, often with a book and her knitting.
